consider the source

Ever wonder where your food comes from? If you have, then perhaps you are eating the wrong food. Our digestive tracts are simple and sensitive, and when given foods that are confusing to them (like trans fats, artificial sweeteners and preservatives, and processed grains and sugars), they tend to react in ways we don’t like: gas and/or bloating, triggered fat stores, activated insulin response, etc. – all of which can lead to health problems like heart disease, hypertension, type II diabetes, obesity, and IBS.

Try eating only foods that are close to the source (i.e. minimally-processed), and your health – and waistline – will thank you. Raw or lightly-cooked local fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fresh uncured meats and seafood, raw nuts, hormone-free dairy products and expeller-pressed oils are easily digested by the body and in turn promote a healthy metabolism, good balance of cholesterol, and smaller waistline. So the next time you take a bite, ask yourself, “Do I know where this came from?”
